About Buir Lake
Buir Lake (Buir Nuur) lies in Khalkhgol soum of Dornod Province, in Mongolia's far eastern steppe. Roughly 40 km long and around 20 km wide, covering more than 600 square kilometers, it is the fifth-largest freshwater lake in the country and sits at about 583 meters above sea level. Its relatively shallow water warms up in summer, which makes it a favourite warm-season getaway for local and domestic travellers.
Buir Lake is famous as the most fish-species-rich lake in Mongolia.
